Starting with a love for handbags and a small shop in downtown Lewes, Micha Seto has grown a thriving business by helping satisfy the area’s passion for fashion. Micha started by making her own handbags and selling them at outdoor markets and craft fairs. One particular festival, the St. Peter's Art Show was particularly hot outside and she determined that she needed a storefront location.
The journey in Lewes had multiple phases, starting with a 350-square-foot store on Market Street, then the addition of a section of Mayumi's florist shop, consolidating into the current Lewes Gifts location, and finally settling into Blooming Boutique’s present-day location on Second Street.
In 2016, Blooming Boutique also expanded into two other Lewes stores with the addition of Blooming Boutique Accessories, allowing for more opportunities and space to fulfill the growing needs of a younger demographic.
Over the last 18 years, Seto has opened stores all over southern Delaware including Rehoboth, Bethany, Milford and Long Neck, but she continues to water her roots in Lewes as the company shows progress and promise every year since its conception.
Currently, Blooming Boutique’s locations in Lewes, Long Neck, and Milford offer an assortment of women’s clothing, shoes and accessories inspired by the likes and dislikes of Seto’s loyal consumer base. Some of the well-known resort wear brands like Lulu B, Oh My Gauze, and Escape by Habitat are public favorites for an effortless, comfortable, and colorful approach to fashion. Blooming Boutique has become a destination for many shoppers as they carry resort wear year-round which can be tricky to find when you're traveling in the off-season months.
Blooming Boutique is also recognized for its extensive selection of FitFlops, the flip-flops that provide comfort for all-day wear and Ilse Jacobsen, which offer highly supported and chic footwear options. Seto makes sure there is something for everyone with beautiful clothing in all sizes from extra small to 3X, and the choices increase every season.
Micha has stayed true to her roots, ensuring that Blooming Boutique always offers unique handbags including Lisi Lerch, Vendula of London, and beaded club bags just to name a few. Lisi Lerch Bags are handwoven handbags from Bali adorned with ribbons and embellishments that are all hand-selected by Micha. Vendula of London is a handbag line that has recently come to the USA and features unique shapes and styles in limited edition prints and fabrics.
Blooming Boutique has a strong charter to give back to the community as they are the reason for its success over the years. In 2024, Blooming Boutique helped raise over 4,000 pounds of food for Epworth Food Pantry and over 2,000 pairs of denim for local clothing shelters as part of their “Jean Buy-Back” event. Seto and her team look forward to additional fundraiser events in the Fall.
